Frequently Asked Questions
Are real tools used?
Yes. Children work with real, age-appropriate tools under close guidance. Using real tools helps kids build confidence, responsibility, and respect for the materials they’re working with – while still keeping safety at the center of everything we do.
What about safety?
Safety is our top priority. All projects are carefully designed for children, with clear instruction, constant supervision, and small group sizes. Tools are introduced gradually, safety rules are reviewed each session, and instructors are always nearby to support and guide each child.
What should kids wear?
Kids should wear comfortable clothes they can move in and don’t mind getting a little dusty. Closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend tying back long hair and avoiding loose or dangling clothing.
Is this a drop-off program?
Yes. Spark Carpentry is designed as a drop-off program so kids can focus, build independence, and fully engage in the experience. For younger participants (6), we’re happy to answer questions and help families feel comfortable before the first session.
Do kids need experience?
No experience is needed at all. Spark Carpentry is designed for beginners and curious makers alike. We meet each child where they are and guide them step by step, whether it’s their first time holding a tool or they already love building at home.
What do we need to bring?
- Comfortable sneakers (we will be walking!).
- Daily Lunch, Snack and water bottlle
- Backpack to carry it all.
- Plus, you will be given a detailed email with all instructions prior to the start of camp.
What is the age range?
This camp is best suited for kids 6+ due the nature of the use of real woodworking and power tools.
When will i get the details of my camp?
Camp details go out the Friday before camp starts. We find that sending it too early get its lost in an inbox for most parents.
What is your cancellation policy?
Due to our smaller sizes, once purchased, there is $50 non-refundable charge per spot should you cancel prior to start as we can’t sell your spot at that point.
