5+ years old – With said, if you have a more than capable 4 year old that can handle a day like that, we are more than welcome to welcome them! Siblings help with younger ones as well as friends their age.

Maximum age would be 10 years old. We have designated camp weeks for 10+ years old. We have successfully ran mixed age small group camps and are capable of creating a wonderful dynamic between the kids to ensure each child is seen, heard and met at their age level.

Spark has always maintained smaller classes for greater interaction and this has led to our camp being like no other. This 10 person cap is followed to ensure safety for a manageable group for our camps.

Yes! New for this summer is a drop in feature. Cost is the same as 1 day of camp. With that said, a one day Spark experience is not the the same as you miss out on what makes our camp special BUT if you need a day or more, we’ve got you covered this summer!

All Spark summer camps features trips to the museums we have in our backyard. These are planned in advance for Wednesdays to break up the week.

Museums include, American Museum of Natural History, The Met, MOMA, The Frick Guggenheim, NY Historical Society and more.

We aim to get them inspired by equipping them with sketchbooks to see some of the best art in the world ]

We will let you know how the mode of transportation is for each week. Some are walking, bus, MOMA requires us to take the subway ( less than 12 minutes to arrive safely) under the  eye of Two Teaching Artist ( 5 to 1 ratio).

We always have your children’s best interest at heart. If you are not comfortable with this policy, kindly let us know beforehand and choose a week that requires bus or walking.

Yes, Spark camp experiences involve a mixed age range of kids from 5-10. We have found this to be very special when it comes to creating and learning together. The older kids serve as mentors and the younger ones often are  finding inspiration from them. It’s led to some amazing friendships and connections over the years. If you do have an older child in a camp, we will ensure they are met and seen for their appropriate age level and taught accordingly.

Just in terms of a daily structure, yes we have a same format but each week features:

Different art projects, morning art and a longer multi session projects

Different field trips
Different Visiting artists

Due to our smaller size camps, once purchased, there is $150 non-refundable charge per spot should you cancel prior to start. We are essentially holding the spot for your child.

2 weeks before: 50% – $362.50
1 week before: 25% -$181.25
Week of Camp – No refund

You will be notified a week out if such a scenario exists and a full refund will be given.

YES, what better place to introduce these elements. We will teach them the concepts of both and develop practices on how to incorporate these disciplines into their lives.

  • Comfortable sneakers (we will be walking!).
  • Masks (per discretion of family – see above)
  • Daily Lunch, Snack and water bottle and a small throw blanket or towel to sit on.
  • Backpack to carry art supplies easier
  • You will be given a detailed email with all instructions prior to the start of camp.

Upon registering, you will be emailed the weekend before the semester starts all instructions on where to pick up and drop off. For logistical purposes, it will be at 162 West 72nd Street – 5th floor Very accessible by (1,2,3 train) station.

Should there be inclement weather, we will use the Spark studio at 72nd street.

Based on recent NYC guidelines, Masks are optional and completely up to the discretion of the family. Our studio is large, air conditioned spacious and ventilated.

We have operated summer camps since June of 2015. We are always watching them and have TWO Teaching Artists in each camp to ensure they are in good hands. We go over rules on how to respect each other and the space at the outset of camp.

This is question is geared  more for our Advanced Art Camp as it’s a primarily older group. At Spark we really try to keep phones away. If you child has a phone, we would kindly ask that you talk to them about its non – use during the day. We will ask all students who have phones to put their phones away as to avoid this distraction and allow them before present and  participate in the full week we have planned. Using a phone to take a picture of art during a museum trip is permitted. Unfortunately, there’s no putting the device back in the box in our over digital world but we aim to create as much analog magic as we can with your kids. Thank you for understanding. We will go over this rule at the outset of camp with all students.
